Become a Leading Practitioner
“With the help of TPPA, I rebranded my business, stepped fully into private practice, and even wrote a book!
I actually can design a practice or work week that works for me, that does follow my values, and that does make space for me to work in a way that I never could when I worked in the NHS.”
Michaela Thomas, Clinical Psychologist and Founder at The Thomas Connection
You likely got into psychology or people-focused work because you wanted to help people AND shape a working life on your own terms.
You’d love to feel like you’re doing something truly meaningful while earning a comfortable income.
And you’d be excited to develop your expertise, ideas and perspectives into work that feels distinctly your own, perhaps through programmes, services, communities, teaching, writing, research or something you haven’t fully worked out yet.
But right now, it might feel like most of your time and energy is being absorbed by the work you’re already doing, leaving very little space to develop what comes next.
You might be stuck in a place where you’re:
- So busy with one-to-one clients, delivery, seemingly endless admin, and other day-to-day tasks that it’s challenging to find time and headpsace to develop what comes next
- Wanting to create something beyond one-to-one services but unsure where to start or how to develop your ideas into something more tangible and visible
- Wishing your expertise could reach more people without so much of your income depending on another client hour
- Battling imposter syndrome, lacking the confidence to leap in a new direction, and wondering how colleagues might respond if you step beyond the status quo
- Having several possible directions you could take, but not knowing which to focus on, how the different pieces fit together, or where to put your limited time and energy.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re certainly not the only one.
There are a few common, and very understandable, reasons why experienced practitioners can find it difficult to develop the work they most want to lead.
1- The traditional 'status quo' model
Psychology gives us clear pathways for becoming more knowledgeable, specialised and experienced within established professional roles.
What it gives us much less guidance on is how to take an emerging idea, perspective or area of interest and develop it into distinctive work of our own.
When what you want to do next doesn’t fit an established route, there may be no obvious pathway to follow, no qualification, role description or set of milestones telling you what to do first, whether an idea has potential, or where it might lead.
2- No space for your ideas to mature
When you have several directions you could pursue, and only so much time and energy to give them, it makes complete sense to want to know which one is most likely to go somewhere before you invest too much in it.
But many of the questions you’re trying to answer are things like:
Will people actually want this?
Will I enjoy doing it once it’s real?
Could it become financially viable?
Does this idea have enough in it to develop further?
And those are surprisingly difficult questions to answer while the idea is still largely in your head. So you can spend months, sometimes years, thinking carefully about what to do next without necessarily having much more information to make the decision with.
3- No support or community
There’s a powerful pull towards the familiar when you’re trying to develop work that sits outside established professional pathways.
Familiar routes come with colleagues, examples, expectations and markers that tell you you’re on the right track. Developing something of your own often comes with far fewer of those signals.
And when much of that thinking is happening on your own, particularly when the people around you understand the familiar route better than the one you’re trying to create, it can become much easier to retreat to what already makes sense.
The Psychology Practice Accelerator gives you the space, structure, and support to develop yourself and your work, and shape your practice around it.
Imagine becoming known for work that is distinctly yours…
- A recognisable body of work that brings together your expertise, ideas and values, and gives people a clear reason to seek you out.
- A strong professional reputation for something that matters, so opportunities increasingly come to you because of the work you are known for.
- The confidence to bring new ideas to life before you have every answer, test them, learn from what happens and keep developing them as the world changes.
- A practice shaped around your best work with less dependence on selling another hour of your time and more value held in the programmes, methods, frameworks and intellectual property you create.
- Work that feels meaningful, exciting and consequential, influencing not just the individual in front of you, but teams, organisations, services, systems and the wider field.
- The ability to respond creatively rather than reactively when the profession, market or world changes, because you know how to develop new work rather than wait for somebody else to define the next pathway.
- A growing legacy of ideas, methods and contributions that can continue creating value for the people your work reaches, for the profession, and for you.
This is what it means to become a Leading Practitioner.
You're Invited to Join
The Psychology Practice Accelerator®
A 9-month personal, professional, and practice development programme for psychological practitioners ready to become Leading Practitioners
Inside TPPA you’ll challenge the traditional ways of working that limit practitioners' growth through our
Leading Practitioner Development Model
The Leading Practitioner Development Model helps you shift in 3 essential ways:
-
Develop the Practitioner
Many practitioners arrive after spending years inside demanding or constraining professional systems. We help you strengthen your self-belief, develop Self leadership, and create a greater sense of safety as you make different decisions, alongside a connected community of practitioners on a similar path.
You’ll learn to recognise and loosen the roles, rules, and ways of working that have sometimes left you feeling trapped or constrained.
-
Develop the Work & Practice
Design programmes, services, methods, and other original work that give life to your practice and help restore you, rather than extracting the life out of you to achieve maximum efficiency.
You’ll create a coherent range of offers that helps your expertise reach more people and organisations, gives you back time, and supports a comfortable income.
-
Lead the Work
Build a practice that feels deeply meaningful and connected to your true values. You’ll develop your visibility and presence in ways that feel purposeful and contained rather than shallow and self-promotional.
You’ll feel stronger within yourself and guided by a mission that expands your leadership, professional authority, and contribution to people and communities.
Want to follow in these practitioners' footsteps?
"I don't think I would have got to where I did in such a short amount of time without the guidance of TPPA”
Dr Emma Offord
Practice Director & Clinical Psychologist at Divergent Life. Host of This Voice is Mine podcast
“It’s been a journey of self-discovery and pushing the limits of what could be.”
Dr Vicki Uwannah
Chartered Counselling Psychologist, Dr Vicki Liberty Therapies
You’ll transform yourself, your practice (and your belief in what’s possible) - with TPPA’s unique combination of
Curriculum + Coaching + Community
Not only will you get access to world-class training designed specifically for your unique needs in the field of psychology.
You’ll also have someone on hand to help you with every step of developing your ideas, practice, and professional direction.
- Need help shaping a programme or method that’s still taking form? No problem.
- Wondering how to bring the different strands of your expertise together? You’re covered.
- Feeling scared to own the big idea you really want to pursue? We’ve got you.
Whether you need practical structure or deep support for your Self leadership, we’re with you every step of the way.
Your development follows a proven structure.
When you join TPPA, you’ll move through a clear journey while applying it to your own starting point, ideas, and goals.
You get a shared structure and a customised experience, supported by our online training and resources, so you always have a sense of movement and know what to work on next.
1. Getting Off the Treadmill
Create the capacity and mental space to develop the work that has been waiting for your attention.
You’ll redesign your time, stabilise the transition from 1:1 to more diversified income, and loosen the unwritten rules that kept you stuck in depleting work.
2. Your Distinctive Edge
Identify the perspective, strengths, and depth of expertise that make your work valuable and difficult to copy.
You’ll bring more of your personality and edge into the work, so it feels recognisably yours.
3. The Offer Umbrella
Shape a coherent range of programmes, services, teaching, corporate work, or other routes through which your unique ideas can reach people.
You’ll develop the delivery structure around your ideas without forcing them into somebody else’s 'online business funnel' template.
4. Visibility and Connection
Stop being your own best kept secret and develop your leadership through speaking, writing, podcasting, partnerships, and community-building.
You’ll build authority by expressing your distinctive ideas, creating meaningful professional relationships, and helping the right people understand why your work can make the difference.
5. Regenerative Momentum
You don’t need to reinvent your practice every time your work, your life or the world around you changes.
You’ll develop a regenerative way of working that helps you navigate uncertainty, respond to new opportunities and keep evolving your work using the ideas, relationships, reputation and intellectual property you’ve already built as the foundation for what comes next.
The result is a way of developing your career and practice that keeps paying dividends long after TPPA ends.
Whether you work independently, inside an organisation, or across both
TPPA gives you the tools, space and support to keep evolving your practice around the work you most want to lead.
Not only over our 9 months together in the programme…
… but through every new phase of your career.
Here’s how your nine months of Leading Practitioner development works:
For the first six months, your dedicated TPPA cohort is the centre of your growth. During the final three months, the emphasis shifts towards embedding and leading your work in the Leading Practitioners Community.
Your TPPA Coaching cohort
Monthly two-hour small-group mastermind sessions with a maximum of four practitioners, plus a private WhatsApp group for your cohort.
Individual development with Wendy Kendall
Three private coaching sessions across the programme, plus your own WhatsApp channel for feedback and reviews of work you are developing.
Curriculum + Live Implementation
Full access to the TPPA Curriculum and Library, live Inner Leadership Team masterclasses, and live implementation of Selling Psychology to Corporates and Businesses.
Included: Selling Psychology to Corporates and Businesses
You’ll receive the complete six-part programme, templates and resources, and we’ll work through it live together so you can translate your expertise into work organisations can understand, value and buy.
The standalone course currently includes six masterclasses covering corporate positioning, strategic relationships, offer design, decision-makers, pricing and sales collateral.
Live Inner Leadership Team Masterclasses
These live IFS-informed coaching sessions go deep into the personal and professional patterns that shape your practice decisions, alongside essential aspects of developing and leading your work.
They help you work with the inner blocks and unrealised gifts that help you lead beyond the status quo.
Protected space to move the work forward
Every day, we have co-working sessions available to give you protected deep work time to develop and implement your work. Perfect for those of us who struggle with isolation or procrastination.
In addition, weekly Office Hours give you support with practical marketing, design, and tech challenges, with accountability and feedback to keep moving ahead and making progress.
Your bridge into the Leading Practitioners Community.
TPPA is designed to develop work you can continue to lead long after the programme ends.
Throughout the nine months, you’ll already be working alongside members of the wider Leading Practitioners Community through shared planning, co-working, office hours, Inner Leadership masterclasses and field trips.
During your final three months, you’ll also receive full membership of the Leading Practitioners Community, including the wider community WhatsApp, and opportunities to share your work through our Community Spotlight interviews.
So when TPPA ends, you are already part of a professional community that understands your work, knows what you are building and can continue to challenge, champion and amplify it.
Let's get off Zoom and into the field!
Community Field Trips
Three times across the programme, TPPA participants and members of the Leading Practitioners Community will come together for a one-day field trip.
These are opportunities to encounter new ideas, environments and ways of working, deepen relationships and create the kind of conversations that rarely happen in another online meeting.
Participants cover their own travel and any personal expenses.
Community Spotlight Interviews
You’ll have the opportunity to take part in a Community Spotlight interview, share your developing work, help more people understand what you are creating and leverage our huge networks to create new opportunities.
TPPA includes everything you need to…
Go from this…
-
Doing work you’re perfectly capable of doing but increasingly bored by, and feeling some of your higher level experience slipping because you rarely get to use it
-
Watching the work that pays consume the week, while the bigger idea you really want to develop keeps getting pushed into the margins
-
Having years of expertise but no clear professional direction for what to build around it, so your ideas remain fragmented
-
Watching people with less professional depth package their ideas, get visible and win opportunities, while you question why you still find it so difficult to put their own work forward
-
Overthinking whether your ideas are rigorous enough, credible enough or professionally acceptable enough to lead, until caution, perfectionism and fear of judgement become a way of playing small
-
Trying one course, business strategy or piece of advice after another, and ending up with more disconnected things you “should” be doing and less confidence in your own judgement
-
Trying to make a significant professional shift largely on your own, without people around you who understand the ambition and the vulnerability of putting original work into the world
To this…
-
A clear Leading Practitioner direction: the work you want to be known for, who it is for, and a practical plan for moving it forward.
-
A distinctive body of work taking shape in the real world, with programmes, services, interventions or other offers built around your best expertise and ideas.
-
More than one route for your expertise, including the skills to position, price and sell your work to businesses and organisations.
-
Ideas moving out of notebooks and into action through protected implementation time, live feedback, testing, conversations, pilots and launches.
-
A stronger professional position and clearer voice, so people can understand what makes your work different and why it matters.
-
The Self leadership to make bigger decisions, tolerate uncertainty, and become more visible.
-
A realistic transition away from over-reliance on one to one work, while protecting the income and foundations you already have.
- A community of Leading Practitioners who know your work, challenge your thinking, and champion what you're creating.

Here’s what more of our alumni have to say…
“Three years on, my business is thriving!”
Dr Romy Sherlock, Director and Clinical Psychologist, Retraining Pain
“Having the supportive community is such a highlight”
Dr Hannah Bryan, The EMDR Supervisor & The EMDR-Informed Coaching School
“I joined TPPA because I wanted support in shifting my private practice away from expert witness work, but I lacked the confidence to do so on my own.
Through the programme, I gained the knowledge, confidence and support to develop my new brand "Pocket Family Psychologists" and online offerings like consultations and training programs.
I discovered untapped strengths in creativity and more freedom in my new brand and offerings. The group sessions and retreat provided energy, ideas, and a sense of not being alone in the challenges of private practice.
TPPA is totally worth it for psychologists who want more freedom and flexibility to do the work they're passionate about. It requires courage but the programme provides a supportive network to help overcome fears and learn the new skills you need!”
Dr Andrea Shortland
Clinical Psychologist and Practice Director at Shortland Psychology

Answers to some questions you might be asking:
Should I work with Wendy 1:1 instead of joining TPPA?
Who is this programme the best fit for? Am I too beginner or too advanced?
How much time will I need to devote to this to see results?
What if I can’t attend the live sessions?
How long will I have access to the programme materials?
Do I have to be based in the UK to enroll in TPPA?
I’ve bought loads of courses and never implemented them. What makes TPPA different?
Will you offer this again? Can I join next time?
I still have questions. Can you help?
Most support works on one part of the problem. TPPA works on the whole practice and practitioner transformation.
What you may have found elsewhere
❌ Online business models treated as the default, with funnels, content and scalable offers treated as the main route to growth rather than one possible path your work could take.
❌ Marketing strategies borrowed from online commerce, with little understanding of the ethics and complexity of psychological work.
❌ Strategies built around what you can sell now, without developing the original ideas and intellectual property that could shape your future work.
❌ Business skills without talent development, leaving your leadership, judgement, confidence and professional capability building largely to chance.
❌ Little focus on real-world relationship building, partnerships, organisations and cross-sector opportunities.
❌ Lots of information, but limited individual support when difficult decisions, doubts and stuck points arise.
❌ Success defined primarily through revenue, scale and consumption, rather than the quality of your work, the practitioner you are becoming and your holistic prosperity.
