If this time of uncertainty has taught us anything, it is that transformation in times of uncertainty, just like growth, is neither linear nor uniform.

I love seeing examples of transformation in nature. Rubi, our horse, is letting go of his winter coat and it is a perfect example of how transformation is not uniform or linear yet letting go of his winter coat to allow his summer coat to come through is important for his summer transformation.

Rubi isn’t worrying about making his change happen instantly and in all areas. He’s just allowing it to shed gradually as he brushes against the grass and the trees. Sometimes when the old stuff itches, he gives it a scratch to get rid.

We can do the same. Allow life to rub the old away gently, or if it’s really itching, give it a scratch and get rid! We are not machines, and allowing our psychological practices to transform in a non-linear and non-uniform way, allowing natural growth and letting go of things no longer serving us or our clients, we can build resilience.
